PT MRT Jakarta has inked a deal to modernize the Phase 1 North-South Line’s Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, aiming to level up its customer service standards.

The joint agreement with the Hitachi Rail Hong Kong Limited and PT Softorb Technology Indonesia (CHS) consortium was marked by a contract signing featuring PT MRT Jakarta’s Construction Director Weni Maulina, Hitachi Rail Hong Kong CEO Nicolas Rabat, and STI Director Rendy Ardilles.
PT MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat expressed that the partnership aims to further enhance the reliability and overall customer experience.

He pointed out that the collaboration will revamp the AFC systems and hardware at 13 stations throughout MRT Jakarta’s Phase 1.
The upgrade serves as a strategic step to guarantee seamless integration and continuity with the systems planned for Phase 2A.
"We are aiming to have the full ticketing system overhaul across all Phase 1 stations wrapped up by 2028," he added.
Further, this alignment is an integral part of the Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) development within the MRT Jakarta ecosystem. This is expected to enhance convenience, speed, and comfort for customers accessing MRT Jakarta's services.
"It will also support more reliable and integrated payment system operations," he emphasized.
